This Saturday, May 29, 2010, in Rentiesville, Oklahoma, Curly “No Shoes” Jr. (a/k/a Mark Muehlberg) will be officially inducted into the Oklahoma Blues Hall of Fame. The ceremony starts at 7:00 p.m., if you happen to be in the area. Rumor has it that the guitar picker Saturday night will be none other than Tony Mathews (former guitarist for Ray Charles)!
Curly also announced that he and his family have relocated to Chicago. He still plans to tour through Colorado, Oklahoma and Texas so check out his website often so that you can attend his shows when he’s in the area.
Curly passed along special thanks to his family; many, many friends and fans; to Sammy Mayfield (his song writing partner, producer and friend; to the club owners, promoters, and booking agents (in particular David McIntyre and Oscar Blues in Lyons, CO); and to Carmen Allgood – creator and CEO of the “Colorado Wave” Network of radio stations for her undying support and encouragement. Carmen has been playing Curly’s music on the radio all across the USA for years and suggested that we all give her the “LOVE WAVE”!!! Curly took the time and effort to write a really considerate note of thanks to all who have helped him along the way.

Oklahoma Blues Hall of Fame to Induct 7 Musicians
-
May 24, 2010
Rentiesville, OK—The state of Oklahoma is known for the many famous musicians it has produced over the years and the contributions they have made to the music world. From Gene Autry and Patti Page to Garth Brooks and Carrie Underwood, the list is long and spans many years and genres.
But perhaps less known is Oklahoma’s contribution to Blues music.
In the small town of Rentiesville, 15 miles south of Muskogee, Blues is alive and well, says Selby Minner, widow of Blues great D.C. Minner.
To honor Blues music and its major contributors, the Oklahoma Blues Hall of Fame will hold its Induction Gala on May 29 and induct seven Oklahoma Blues musicians into the organization.
“The induction celebration, along with music and dinner, honors the state’s contribution to the Blues,” Minner said.
Inductees are Tiny Davis, Joe Liggins, Roy Milton, D.C. Minner, Curly ‘No Shoes’ Jr., Rudy Scott and Bucky Young. Ray Tubbs will receive the first annual Ray Tubbs Keeping the Blues Alive Award.
"The party begins at 7 p.m. with a bar-b-que dinner, and then some of the finest Blues performers will play,” Minner said. “This celebration is a wonderful lead-in event to our 20th Annual Rentiesville Blues Festival scheduled for September 3, 4, and 5. We will present Johnny Rawls, Curly "No Shoes" Jr. and many, many more Blues greats. By the way, Johnny Rawls recently won the Blues Foundation Soul Album of the Year Award.”
In addition to these events, every Sunday from 6 to 10 p.m. there’s a jam session, complete with corn bread, beans and munchies.
All activities are held at the Oklahoma Blues Hall of Fame, Down Home Blues Club in Rentiesville. For more information, call 918.855.0978.
The Oklahoma Blues Hall of Fame is a member of Green Country Marketing Assn., one of 11 multi-county organizations working with the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department, the Oklahoma Travel Industry Assn. and the other 10 multi-county associations to promote the state tourism industry.

Another Review Of The CD!!

March 15, 2007
Since 1999, Curly "No Shoes" Jr. has been burning up the stages of Colorado's clubs with his unmistakable form of Blues. His first solo album "Make Your Dreams Come True" is a collaboration with Sammy Mayfield: Curly wrote all the lyrics, co-writing and co-producing the music with Sammy. Except keyboards on "It's Gonna Be Hell To Pay" and "Wanna Be A Better Man," Sammy played all the instruments, his lead guitar the perfect foil for Curly's singing. A protege of the late Sam Myers (Anson Funderburgh and the Rockets), Curly has learned his vocal lessons well, preaching his songs with a passionate growl. Highlights include "Live, Learn and Love" - a topical view of life, "Finally Found My Baby" - a shuffle about his personal journey to true love, the excellent jam "You Ain't The One For Me," and the acoustic album closer, "The Path". As a bonus, Curly includes his first single from 2004 as the second track, a fine writing/performing collaboration with Gabe Masry entitled "Nuthin' But A Tear," recently featured in the movie "The Surfer King". A singer with as much heart in his soul as in his voice, Curly donates a portion of his CD sales to the Colorado coalition For The Homeless, giving back to the community and helping those whose lives are blue in addition to creating an excellent Blues Album!
